An enthralling game, won by Mighty Mako’s Mob who rallied from an early deficit.
The game also featured the final appearance as a Wildcat by ex-President Terry Fitzgerald in what was a Vegas billboard moment.
Fitzy is heading back (about a century in time as Mako unkindly said in his farewell speech) to South Australia early in the New Year.
It was fabulous to see so many of his buddies gather in the Tony Peek Clubhouse to farewell Fitzy after the game. Best of luck, Fitzy.
The other clear highlight of the weekend was the Xmas Party where Santa made an appearance much to the delight of all the kids. Well played Satchel.
On behalf of the Waverley Baseball Club Board we extend a Merry Xmas & a Happy, safe & prosperous New Year to all the Wildcat nation.
Best to skim over the on field performances of the Seniors, but carrying the torch for the Club is our Juniors.
Our womens team were missing several regulars due to other commitments and copped a bit of a reality check. Despite this minor setback we’re very pleased with the way the team has come together.
Our Masters team also had a good win against Blackburn.
Our Junior League Wildcats, Little League Major Wildcats & Little League Minor Wildcats all take unbeaten records into the Xmas break. Not too far behind them is our Junior League Panther who have lost just the one game.
As our great mate Pete Flintoff would always say GO WILDCATS !!
Big shout out to Magical Mal Jackson, David Jackson, Sam Thurston Claudio Rodriguez Ross Neilson Alisha Gray Zoe Angeli who all stepped up to help out the Club yesterday @ Napier Park. Much appreciated.
