Announcing board changes at Waverley Baseball Club

Following Kerry Gassner’s resignation from the board we are pleased to announce that Andrew Ferguson has been appointed President of Waverley Baseball Club and Ryan Stanaway has joined the board as Vice President.

Andrew Ferguson


Andrew played Juniors from the age of 7 to 17 and played 435 Senior games with Waverley.  In this time he played in 5 Division 1 premiership teams, including Waverley’s first Division 1 premiership.

Andrew was Secretary on the Board at Waverley from 1983 through 1986.

Andrew played with Monash University from 1977 to 1988.  Monash won several A Grade premierships in that time.  He was on the committee for the club as treasurer/secretary and on the organising committee for the inter-varsity tournament held in Melbourne in 1979.  Andrew was also awarded a University Blue for baseball in 1980.

Andrew played several games with the Waverley Reds in the inaugural season of the ABL in 1989.

2020 – Current: Board Member/Vice President, Waverley Baseball Club

2020 – Current: Tour Guide, Melbourne Cricket Ground

Volunteer tour guide at MCG giving visitors a behind-the-scenes tour to gain an insight into Melbourne’s sporting culture, while exploring one of the world’s most iconic stadiums

2020 – Current: Volunteer Host, Melbourne Zoo

Assist visitors to Melbourne Zoo.

Promote Melbourne Zoo’s animal conservation programmes

1981 – 2019: IT Consultant, Fenwick Software

Consultant/Senior Consultant/Principal Consultant/Director/Part Owner: Andrew took on various roles over the years including pre-sales, implementations and ongoing support.

Andrew worked in several industries including waste management, warehousing and logistics, intellectual property, aluminium smelting and publishing and was also on the board of Fenwick Software for 4 years

1978-1981: Secretary/Treasurer, Monash University Baseball Club

Administration, general dogsbody, organised Inter-Varsity tournament in Melbourne in 1979

1983-1987: Secretary, Waverley Baseball Club

Administration, attended and documented meetings


1977 – 1980: BSc (Hons), Monash University

Majored in Computer Science

2004-2005: Graduate Certificate in Business (Professional Management), AIM

2012: Company Directors Course, AICD
