A GAME FOR ALL SEASONS
Historically baseball was played in winter largely as a means for cricketers to improve their skills and fitness. We made the big switch to summer as the prime season in 1976/7.
Since then however baseball has continued to be played with separate seasons in Summer and Winter.
Waverley fields both Senior and Junior teams in both the Summer and Winter seasons as part of the Victorian Summer Baseball League and Victorian Winter Baseball League respectively.
We have highly credentialed coaches in both competitions.
SUMMER
Waverley fields seven senior teams in the Victorian Summer Baseball League.
We have four teams in Division 1 and field an additional three teams in Division 4 East.
We also have a Masters team which plays on Monday evenings.
WINTER
We field four Senior teams in the Melbourne Winter Baseball League.
Seniors play Saturday afternoon.
We also field junior teams.
The U13 Minors, U13 Majors, U15 Minors, U15 Majors and U17 teams play Saturday mornings. 8am to 11am.
